The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Syndicate, the highest decision making body of the university, has given its nod for the Corps of Detectives (Cod) probe into the September 2004 Internal Assessment scam.The report of the J K Arora Committee, constituted at the behest of the Chancellor, to probe the IA scam was placed before the Syndicate at its meeting on November 25.

While stating that the tampering of marks had taken place at the computer-operators’ level at the university, the report stated: “The committee has not been able to find any conclusive evidence to pinpoint the responsibility on any particular person or persons...It therefore recommends that a thorough inquiry be conducted by COD.”

The RGUHS has accepted the report of the Arora Committee and decided to write to the State Government to order a CoD probe into the case. The marks alteration scam relates to the RGUHS September 2004 MBBS exam involving 14 students of six medical colleges.
