**Govt refused to pay allowance to security personnel: Jayalalithaa**
AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa on Wednesday claimed that the Tamil Nadu government had refused to pay the daily allowance to security personnel on poll duty and alleged that the ruling DMK might create violence in the event of their absence. more..

The winner of tamilnadu election 2011 the next five years will be known by Friday the 13 evening. The election process has to be completed by Monday May 16th, when the new Chief Minister will have to be sworn in.

tamilnadu politics and Kollywood as everybody knows is intertwined from time immemorial. Madras state was renamed as Tamil Nadu and DMK took power for the first time with CN Annadurai, as the Chief Minister on 6 March
1967.

This has led to a situation where every actor worth his salt has to cosy up to the rulers of the day , if their career has to run smoothly in Tamil cinema.

tamilnadu election 2011 is going to be a watershed year for Kollywood. Never before has so many actors lined up on either sides of the political divide. The Karunanidhi led DMK alliance which has been lording over the industry for the last five years has to win, as a lot is riding on it for the first family.

On the other side AIADMK's Jayalalithaa has cobbled up what the pundits say is a winning combination. She has roped in Vijaykanth and his DMDK, Vijay and his dad SA Chandrasekhar is openly supporting her, Nadigar Sangam chief Sarath Kumar and his party has been given two seats in tamilnadu election 2011.

Though alliance politics has dominated the tamilnadu election since 1967 till tamilnadu election 2011 when Congress was unseated by the first opposition ‘grand alliance’' ranging from the rightist ‘Swatantra party’, DMK, Indian Union Muslim League to the CPI(M) that catapulted the DMK to power under the late C N Annadurai, much water has flown down the Cauvery to change the political ecology.

With the Congress split under Indira Gandhi and the formation of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in 1972 by the charismatic actor and leader, M G Ramachandran, known as MGR after his expulsion from the parent party DMK, these two major Dravidian formations have been the nerve centres of alliance politics.

Thus even national parties have often in the past had to ally with one of these Dravidian parties. It hinged on pooling of votes but without power-sharing, as the leader of the winning front, except in tamilnadu election 2006, had a clear majority of its own.

Even in the coming tamil nadu elections elections, the two main alliances are spun around the DMK and AIADMK. The architecture, as they say, is old, but the chemistry binding it seems radically different in tamilnadu election 2011.

In the run-up to the tamilnadu election 2006 tamil nadu elections polls, things were a lot easier for the 87-year-old DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi, who is once again in the race, contending for the State's Chief-Ministership for a record sixth time should his front win. The alliance pattern in Tamil Nadu is also reflected in neighbouring Union territory of Puducherry, with just 30 tamil nadu elections seats.

In Puducherry, one novelty this time is the breakaway Congress leader and former Chief Minister N Rangaswamy, who recently floated his own party, met Jayalalithaa in Chennai as a prelude to teaming up with the AIADMK in the polls there. If formalised, they will be pitted against the DMK-Congress-PMK-VCK combine in the former French colony which has an electorate of about 8 lakh.

After a stunning sweep of the DMK-led alliance in the 2004 LS polls, when they bagged all the 40 Parliamentary seats at stake in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the DMK's political clout zoomed in the UPA at the Centre wats to be expected in tamilnadu election 2011.

Nothing seemed to stop the DMK in the tamilnadu election 2006 State tamil nadu elections polls to continue the ‘rainbow alliance’ that had pitch-forked the Congress back to power at the Centre in 2004 on a ‘revive secularism plank’. The shocker for Karunanidhi in the previous tamil nadu elections poll was that the DMK contesting 132 seats, won only 96 seats even if it emerged the single largest party. But thanks to the UPA coalition in Delhi, the DMK could run a minority Government in Chennai for full five years with outside support of the Congress and the PMK led by Dr S Ramadoss.

Nonetheless, unlike tamilnadu election 2011 before the tamilnadu election 2009 L S polls, the first exposures in the 2G spectrum scam and the military offensive against the Tamils in Sri Lanka saw the ‘bond’ between the DMK and Congress loosen.

Come November 2010, the CAG revelations on the extent of the spectrum scam when DMK’s A Raja was the Union Telecom Minister and the staggering loss to the exchequer, besides the later events from Raja's arrest to CBI quizzing DMK MP Kanimozhi and Karunanidhi’s wife Dayalu Ammal, have handicapped the DMK-Cong ties.

For the first time in three decades the tamilnadu election 2011 , the Congress called the shots to a vulnerable DMK, getting the latter to relent and allot it 63 seats in tamilnadu election 2011, a tactful gain for the Congress, which is keen on power-sharing at the State level this time.

Jayalalitha, on the other hand, queering the pitch on the twin issues of corruption and inflation pulled off a mini coup, roping actor Vijayakant-founded DMDK to her side, allotting it 41 seats to strengthen the AIADMK-led alliance in tamilnadu election 2011 which the CPI and CPI(M) continue. However, the AIADMK-led front faced a near break-up as its constituents revolted against the constituencies being allotted to them, after Jayalalitha “unilaterally” announced the 160 seats her party will contest in tamilnadu election 2011 . Late Friday, rapprochement efforts were on.

The PMK and VCK are now back in DMK-front and MDMK’s presence in the AIADMK-fold wobbly. Equally, both the fronts are busy wooing a host of smaller caste-based outfits, while the BJP is going it alone with the Janata Party in the State

dmk withdraws support from upa | adamk to support congress ??

In a major development dmk withdrew support from central government over seat sharing issues in tamil nadu. The dmk on Saturday withdrew support to the congress government after failing to reach a seat-sharing pact with the Congress for the TN assembly elections.

"We are compelled to suspect that these are all the efforts by Congress to remove us from the congress. Under these circumstances we have to think whether to continue in the government," says tamil nadu elections 2011 chief minister M Karunanidhi as dmk withdraws support .

dmk will provide only issue-based support to the congress Government. dmk resolution says Congress does not want us to continue in the alliance. Their attitude clearly shows this, says the resolution.

The Congress stand surprises us, says M Karuanidhi at the dmk high-level meeting after dmk withdraws support. The Congress stand does not help for an amicable poll accord, the resolution says.

Earlier in the day, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee said that the Congress-dmk talks over seat sharing for the tamil nadu elections 2011 elections had run into rouble but claimed the issue will be resolved. "We have problems but problems will be solved," Mukherjee told reporters

The Congress reportedly wants to contest 63 of the 234 seats in tamil nadu elections 2011, which goes to the polls April 13. The state's ruling dmk is reluctant to concede this many seats but now dmk withdraws support puts congress in a spot.

The political circles are abuzz with speculations that the Congress is exploring options minus the DMK for the state assembly elections, which are only about two months away.

This is again fuelled by rumours that the CBI could quiz Karunanidhi's daughter and Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi for her alleged links in the 2G scandal. This could annoy the DMK patriarch even more.

This apart, the two allies were going through a trough over the past three months because of the resignation and arrest of A. Raja; the Congress usurping the ministry and giving it to Kapil Sibal; the CBI trailing Karunanidhi's family ( in December, the agency raided some firms linked to Karunanidhi's wife Rajathiammal); and Rahul Gandhi giving the cold shoulder to the DMK patriarch.

There is speculation that congress would ask for aiadmk support at the center and congress could also form allience with admk for tamil nadu elections 2011
