sakkarai pongal recipe

the most auspicious festival of tamil nadu pongal is celebrated today , the main specialty of the "pongal" that we cook , there are basically two types of pongal 1, ven pongal 2, sweet pongal of sakkarai pongal. the sweet pongal is very spacial , the tamil nadu government has given all the items required for making sweet pongal(sakkarai pongal), not just just the needy but to all who have a ration card . now the crusial question "how to make sakkarai pongal " , i know its really tricky situ for all those people celebrating pongal for the first time, infact imyself too dobnt know the sakkarai pongal recipe or how to do the sakkarai pongal , but no probs for me as my mom knows the sakkarai pongal recipe , i thought to ask her the details of making sakkarai pongal , and make a blog post about sakkarai pongal recipe. my my attems failed she was too busy to give the sakkarai pongal recipe. dont worry guys i will look how shes been doing this sakkarai pongal , and tell the secret sakkarai pongal recipe,

so i decided to go online for the sweet sakkarai pongal , there was a smile in my face when i saw these sakkarai pongal recipe online , so i changed my plans to make my own sakkarai pongal recipe(may be risky for readers) , so as to make a compilation of online sakkarai pongal recipes

this is the sweet pongal recipe i found on top-indian-recipes.com

Ingredients

  • Raw Rice - 2 cups
  • Jaggery - 2 cups
  • Ghee (Clarified Butter) - 1 1/2 cups
  • Elaichi (Cardamom) - 6 (powdered)
  • Cashewnuts - 12 (fried in ghee) and cut into small pieces
  • Kishmish - (12-15 (fried in ghee)

Method:

  1. Clean and wash the rice well, add 5 cups of water and pressure cook. Keep Jaggery in a medium frying pan, add 1 cup of water and boil. When it melts, strain through a strainer to remove the dirt.
  2. Replace and boil again. When it becomes slightly thick, add the cooked rice and stir continuously till it becomes thick. Start adding Ghee now and then, stirring continuously.
  3. When it starts leaving the sides of the pan and the ghee starts oozing out, put powdered cardamom and stir well. Add Cashewnuts and Kishmish fried in ghee. Coconut scrapings can be added at the end before serving.
