Revision of Pay-Scales of Teacher under the Purview of the university Grants Commission

The much awaited UGC pay hike is approved by The Union Cabinet. More than five lakh teachers in colleges and universities, the Centre has approved a proposal for a 70 per cent salary hike, making teaching at certain levels more attractive than civil service. The recommendations of the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) pay review committee for teachers headed by Professor G K Chadha. While the revision of pay will be effective from January 1, 2006, the disbursement of allowances (except DA) and advance increments will be effective from September 1, 2008.

Proposal for Pay Review Committee by aifucto
recommended the following pay structure higher than those for the civil services.
Lecturer Rs.10000/-
Lecturer (Senior Scale) Rs.12000/-
Lecturer (Selection Grade)/Reader Rs.16400/-
Professor Rs.18400/-
But this was not implemented.
Hence AIFUCTO urges the committee to recommend a suitable revised pay structure on the basis of the above floor level.
