Punjab budget 2009 - 2010 highlights

Announcing Rs 3,000 cr bonanza for the Punjab government employees in punjab budget 2009 , Finance Minister Mr Manpreet Singh Badal said the recommendations of the 5th State Pay Commission would be implemented in punjab budget 2009 from August even as the revenue deficit of the state i ncreased to Rs 4,233.92 cr against the revised estimates of Rs 3,811.64 cr in last fiscal in punjab budget 2009 .

Presenting the third punjab budget 2009 of the SAD-BJP alliance government in which he did not propose any fresh taxesin punjab budget 2009 he said that the increase in revenue deficit over the previous year is mainly on account of provision made for the implementation of the Pay Commis sion recommendations which would put an annual burden of Rs 3,000 cr. “In spite of the difficult fiscal situation, all Government employees will start getting new pay scales from August 1, 2009 as punjab budget 2009 .The other recommendations of the Pay Commission are under ac tive consideration of the government,'' he added. The payment of arrears from January 1, 2006 would put an additional burden of Rs 4,800 cr. – PTI
