For movie Maska there could not be a better time than Sankranthi as this is the time when most of the viewers tend to flock to cinema halls with their families. And in such a situation a family entertainer is bound to be an attractive option.

Maska is the story of a 10 plus 2 boy Krish ( played by Ram) who has nothing to do but roam around and dream with his friend. Krish dreams of marrying a rich beautiful girl so that he can settle with a comfortable life. He has a crush on Manju (Sheela) and fools her into believing that he is an educated guy with white collar job and tells her a fake love story. The things take a sharp twist when the girl from the fake story Meenu (Hansika) appears in a real world. This tangled with two MPs trying to kill and abduct Menu for the plot of the movie.
Hansika and voluptuous Sheela have added the glamour factor to the flick while Ram seems to be getting adept at acting with each movie. The movie is directed by B Gopal and music is composed by Chakri.

All in all Maska proves to be a mass entertainer released with perfect timing and is bound to be a hit.

A typical tale, the story begins with the loving family of man and his wife (Naresh, Jhansi) and his brother Krishnakanth dearly known as Krish (Ram). He is a street smart guy who is aimless and jobless given the fact that he is an undergraduate. His life goes about by roaming around with his close buddy (Sunil) and together they form a loafing duo. However, Krish decides to set an aim and that is to get married. He gets a bit smart in this one and decides to hit on a girl who is well settled and educated. Krish gets his target in the form of Manju (Sheela) and with his smart approach, he manages to make friends with her and in the process, cooks up a fairy tale of a romance creating an imaginary girlfriend. Manju falls for the bait and soon she begins to find herself getting attracted to her. Things take a sudden twist for Krish as he gets flanked by a new girl Meenu (Hansika) and she turns to be a match to his imaginary tale. She also has a baggage of dangers in the form of MPs Simhachalam (Mukesh Rishi) who is out to kill her and his arch rival Sivaji (Pradeep) who wants to kidnap her, if either of them succeed, they will get a minister post. How is Meenu related to the minister's position? Who is Krish's actual love? Is he able to solve this one? All this forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come out with a viable storyline but this time, he attempted to make it engaging by adding a political angle to it. The presentation has been apt whereas the narrative could have been with more depth. The dialogues were witty, script was under the grip, screenplay was well executed. The music was above average and there were two songs to remember. Cinematography has been to the core and even the graphics department was strong in its presence. Editing missed out on few instants, locations and costumes were impressive. Ram seems to be sending out a message that he is more of a versatile genre than any particular image with his performance, he was neat. Hansika provided enough visual feast and her glamorous approach worked, however her expressions still need some polishing. Sheela was more the beauty of nativity and provided her own form of sizzles on the screen, she is a natural performer which gave her better scores. Brahmandam was regular, Sunil was top notch, Jhansi.
